Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones announced, India launch in September

Sony has launched its flagship headphone of the year, the WH-1000XM4 in the US. It is up for pre-orders and will be going on sale soon. Priced at $349.99, the headphones come in Silver and Black colours and will be arriving in India in September.

The headphones are known for their noise cancellation tech along with some other features. The company is using the 1000XM3’s QN1 noise-cancelling processor that works in real time along with new Bluetooth Audio SoC that senses and adjusts to music and noise signals.

The firm says that its headphones include Personal Noise-Cancelling Optimizer, which is designed specifically for you, and Atmospheric Pressure Optimizing, which is designed specifically for air. In addition, you can always connect the WH-1000XM4 with the Sony Headphones Connect app to adjust the ambient sound control. There’s a support for LDAC as well so you get more audio data reaching your ear during wireless streaming.

Some other features included are DSEE Extreme to upscale the compressed audio files, Speak-to-Chat that pauses the audio when it senses the wearer speaking, wear detection using two acceleration sensor and Adaptive Sound Control tech that uses Sense Engine to customise the audio based on your environment. Using the Sony Connect Headphones app, one can select locations where the headphones can change the audio profile.

Like seen in other Sony earbuds, the WH-1000XM4 headphones also support Quick Attention feature to hear ambient sound for a short while by tapping and holding the finger on the headphone.

As for the battery, Sony WH-1000XM4 is claimed to deliver up to 30 hours of battery life in a single charge and up to 5 hours in 10 minutes of charge. Google Assistant and Alexa support is also there.
